What we do...
We deliver this programme in partnership with the HSE. It is aimed towards school leavers to be supported as a unique person to develop personal, social and work/job skills. We work with the person to assist with developing independence and understanding, so they can progress in life accessing fulfilling experiences relevant to them.
Why would you access this type of programme?
The person and the family have a large input into the training and planning of learning goals for the duration of the programme. We ensure each person has the opportunity and is supported to maximise their own potential through the various learning domains available.
Which would include:
Independent living, Community skills, Interpersonal skills
Leisure, Work, Career/future planning, Literacy/Numeracy Personal care
How is the training recognised?
The programme offers fetac awards and we support the person to learn and achieve these where possible. We also cover a large amount of non-formal learning as requested by the individual i.e. accessing the community to develop personal skills such using public transport, money, safety out and about etc.
The entitlement of €31.80 is paid for full attendance (30 hours) weekly on this course.
How long does it last?
The programme is four years, however if a person achieves what they want in a lesser timeframe they can exit at that point.
We work in partnership with the VEC offering learning in a natural and integrated way. We also work with different employers who offer work experience to course participants.
