Psychology Team

Our Clinical Psychologists provide support throughout the organisation. We currently have a Senior Psychologist (Elaine Keavey) and Basic Grade Psychologist (Gerardin Casey) working with the Clare Early Intervention Services (CEIS).  CEIS is a team comprising professionals from the HSE, Enable Ireland and the Brothers of Charity Clare working together in partnership to provide support to families of children between the ages of 0 and 6 who may have developmental delay. Our psychologists carry out assessment, diagnostic and intervention work within the team including developmental assessments, Assessment of Need, ASD diagnosis, behavioural interventions, family training and so on.

We have two Senior and one Principal Clinical Psychologist working within the Adult services. Mark Stanton is a Senior Clinical Psychologists and Behaviour Specialist who is helping the organisation to support people who, for various reasons, have behaviour which presents challenges for those who support them. He advises us on how best to support staff, families and those we support in the context of these challenges. He plays a significant role in the development of training for staff and families in this area.

Martin O'Connor (Senior Clinical Psychologist) and Michael Reen (Principal Clinical Psychologist) provide supports to Staff teams throughout the services and advise on a broad range of issues including behaviour difficulties, bereavement, abuse, person centred planning, individualisation of services to mention a few. Both are also involved in research and training of staff and families on a regular basis.

The Psychology Department also has Trainee Clinical Psychologists on placement at regular intervals from the NUIG or UL Doctoral Programmes in Clinical psychology. More recently, the organisation has taken an innovative step to employ Psychology Graduates as Support Assistants in different parts of the service.
